Stepped cracks, bowing walls and failed wall ties are common in older Sydney brickwork. In many cases the wall does not need to come down. Helical stainless steel bars, bonded into the mortar joints, stitch cracked masonry back together and restore its strength. Retro-fit ties reconnect the outer leaf of a cavity wall to the inner leaf.
The work is discreet. Once the joints are repointed, the repair is almost invisible.

Crack stitching
Helical bars are set into cut slots across the crack and bonded in with a specialist grout. The wall acts as one piece again and the crack is repointed to match.
Wall tie replacement
Old galvanised ties rust and fail, and the outer brick skin can bow away from the frame or inner wall. Retro-fit ties reconnect them without taking the wall apart.

Very little. The bars sit inside the mortar joints, which are then repointed to match.

For significant movement, yes. We work with engineers and follow their repair details.
